Willow Russell, Communications Manager
Willow’s professional background is in environmental and non-profit communications and education. Prior to joining SVP, Willow focused on managing and facilitating collaborative communications campaigns among regional coalitions working to restore and protect the Mississippi River and Great Lakes ecosystems.
Willow received her MS in Conservation Biology and Sustainable Development from the University of Wisconsin-Madison's Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies (2006) and has a BA in Environmental Studies from Hampshire College (2000). Her most recent academic work focused on identifying social and infrastructural mechanisms that promote greener consumption patterns, and she has a particular interest in the development and support of sustainable communities.
After nearly five years in Madison, Wisconsin, Willow decided she needed to put down roots in area closer to her family and her home state of Hawai‘i (plus she had had her fill of sub-zero winter weather!). Willow now lives near Green Lake with her partner and their bunny and cat. On her favorite days you can find Willow perusing the local farmers’ markets, picnicking along Green Lake, checking out a theater or music production, or aboard a ferry and exploring islands in the sound.
