Partners In Action
By getting involved at SVP, Partners have the opportunity to not only give back to their community, but to learn and grow from the experience. Here are just a few examples of how Partners have engaged in the work of SVP.
LEAD PARTNER
Lead Partner, Ron Tanemura, managed a team of volunteers from SVP to help the Metrocenter YMCA assess its organizational capacity and set goals for developing future capacity. Ron, the Y staff and volunteer team articulated measurable goals for the organization and systematically assessed their progress in achieving these goals.
VOLUNTEER CONSULTING
To improve the organization’s marketing and communications efforts, Deb Hagen reviewed Climate Solutions print and electronic outreach pieces and helped develop a new Matrix for messaging consistency across the organization. “Deb's skilled facilitation and several half-day branding sessions created an environment where critical introspection could take place,” said a staffer at Climate Solutions.
JOIN A GRANT COMMITTEE
Judy Bigelow’s work as a team member and chair of SVP grant committees helped her learn about local programs and work in the K-12 and Out-of-School Time areas, which also aided her foundation work at Fordham Street Foundation, www.fordhamstreet.org. Through SVP, she gained experience in identifying grantees with strong leadership, a clear vision for the organization and a solid program that reaches out to stakeholders.
