As I look ahead to 2012 here are few wishes and hopes I hold for our community (and myself). First, that we each bring more empathy into our lives – in our day-to-day interactions with spouses, children and families, co-workers and clients, and in our neighborhoods and communities.
As I look ahead to 2012 here are few wishes and hopes I hold for our community (and myself)....
- We each bring more empathy into our lives – in our day-to-day interactions with spouses, children and families, co-workers and clients, and in our neighborhoods and communities.
- We stretch ourselves beyond our routines, safe places and comfort zones. We reach out to intentionally engage with people that challenge our ways of thinking, participate in real dialogue and truly listen to one another. We engage in activities that open us up to new ideas, conversations and solutions.
- Foundations, corporations and governments walk their talk and engage in true collaborations and collective action. We’ve asked too much of this from our nonprofit peers without providing the necessary funding to do so and without stepping up to the plate ourselves. Our communities’ most entrenched problems won’t be solved until we come together.
And on a lighter note…
- The jibber jabber around an Arrested Development movie is finally put to rest and the end product lives up to the hype.
- The sun shines warm and bright in 2012…and my fellow backyard gardeners and I enjoy a bountiful growing season.
Happy New Year – may you enjoy a very happy & healthy 2012!
- Lynn C.
