Grantmaking Areas

Grantmaking Areas

We form multi-year capacity building relationships with King County nonprofit organizations in the four issue areas listed below.

  • Early Childhood Development: advancing early childhood development and/or fostering improved care-giving skills.
  • Environment: promoting a healthy future for all life in the Pacific Northwest by fostering environmental stewardship that is ecologically based and economically sound.
  • K-12 Education: focusing on helping students succeed in school.
  • Out-of-School Time: offering programs that engage youth in safe and constructive activities during out-of-school time, including before and after school hours, evenings and weekends.

Outside of our traditional multi-year capacity building relationships, SVP is also focused on:

  • Advocacy and Policy: addressing upstream root causes and strengthening the systems in which our nonprofits operate.
  • Social Venture Kids: helping teenage children of Partners gain an in-depth hands-on philanthropy experience. On an annual basis, this grant committee selects an issue area to fund and provides smaller one-time grants.
