Social Venture Kids Grantmaking
Social Venture Kids is a program of Social Venture Partners that involves our Partners’ kids in grades 9–12 in grantmaking. By introducing young people to the needs of their community through grantmaking, we hope to get them involved in philanthropy at an early age and instill in them the desire to continue to give to their community throughout the rest of their lives.

SVK Giving Priorities
SVK has chosen to focus their 2008 grantmaking cycle on teen dating violence and domestic violence. Adolescence is the time when youth who have been abused begin to become abusers themselves. So this is a key time to combat domestic violence and dating violence. SVK hopes to help teens break the cycle of violence through the following programs:
Prevention & Education
- Education and awareness programs targeted at middle & high school students & their families.
Treatment
- Treatment & support programs for teenage victims, preferably combining an individual counseling and peer-based approach
- Treatment & support programs to reduce the likelihood that teenage perpetrators of violence will continue to be perpetrators.
Research
- Research focusing on the causes, methods of prevention, and methods of treatment for dating violence and domestic violence amongst teenagers.
