Create a Business Development System for Equal Opportunity Schools

Work with the Executive Director in creating business development systems that will support their planned growth to school districts across the country.

Equal Opportunity Schools (EOS) changes lives and narrows the achievement gap by ensuring equal access to high-quality college preparation – available at most U.S. high schools in the form of Advanced Placement (AP) or International Baccalaureate (IB) classes – for students of all ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds.

EOS is an ambitious early-stage organization that is building internal systems to support its expected rapid growth.  Their budget has grown from $0 to $1million in the first year of operations, and they currently work with six school districts in three states with the goal to triple their impact in the next year.  Funding sources are a mix of earned income from school districts and start-up growth funding from foundations such as Draper Richards Kaplan and Echoing Green.

They are looking for a skilled, business-minded volunteer will work closely with Executive Director Reid Saaris to create business development systems that will support their planned growth to school districts across the country.  This project will  focus on building the best and most efficient internal systems to create, foster and maintain relationships with school districts in their fee-for-service model as a social enterprise.

Desired skills include:

  • Significant business expansion experience, start-up to growth;
  • Ability to project and articulate the impact of growth on internal systems and offer suggestions and models that anticipate the impact;
  • Experience building a sales-force;
  • Experience managing customer relationships from initial point of contact through agreement, contract execution, service, progress monitoring and outcome tracking.
