SVP Community in Action

SVP Community in Action

Here are some examples of the SVP network in action.

SHARING INTERESTS

When two Partners separately expressed an interest in health care, SVP suggested a meeting and the Health Care Special Interest Group was born. The group—now expanded to 12 Partners and three community members—meets on average twice a month and hears from experts in the field to learn about the landscape of health care. They are exploring effective ways citizens can get involved to build greater common understanding and support for improved health care system and better public health outcomes.

SHARING BEST PRACTICES

After years of writing databases for SVP Investees, John Fine recognized the potential for sharing best practices amongst other SVP database volunteers. With the help of SVP Partner David Habib, they are organizing a group of Partners to improve support of our Investees and develop consistent database standards to benefit the larger nonprofit sector.

SOLVING CHALLENGES IN OUR COMMUNITY

SVP Partner Jonathan Shakes wondered, “How can we make more efficient use of the empty space in all those single-occupant vehicles on the highway?”  By providing Jonathan connections to other Partners, he is now convening a group of four other partners to discuss this issue and to strategize on how to take action.
