Strengthening Mountains to Sound Greenway: Sample Capacity Building Projects


In partnership with SVP volunteers and paid consultants, Mountains to Sound Greenway Trust tackles projects like:

  • Leadership Development: Partners Kari Glover, Peter Spiro and Diane Moore led executive and leadership coaching, providing guidance, support and perspective for the executive director, deputy director and key staff members.
  • Leadership Development: Community Volunteer Alpa Dave conducted presentation training to help staff members deliver high quality and engaging presentations to external audiences.
  • Program Outcomes & Evaluation: Partner Bu Huang helped review and design tools/surveys to track and evaluate volunteer program.
  • Fund Development: Partner/Paid Consultants Emily Anthony and Julie Edsforth helped design and work with staff and board to launch 20th anniversary campaign.
  • Leadership Development: SVP covered the cost of staff participation in peer learning groups.

It used to be that as you drove toward the Front Street exit you could see Tiger Mountain’s lush forests and the Issaquah Plateau’s open fields. Then a little while ago I noticed the first house visible from I-90. More and more houses came, dropping into neat, clean rows and columns over the horizon. It makes me think: How long would it be before another parcel of pristine forest and trail system disappeared?
